"alright there hen?"

In the U.K. they are called Hen parties-at least I think they are- but in Canada we usually refer to them as stagettes or Bachelorettes(I have no idea what the correct spelling is)
I was at my friend Penny Miller's stagette in Abbotsford this Friday. Then I worked at 9 the next morning (oh dear). Good, good times my friends.
At one point, the 30 of us sat in a circle and told a story about Penny- either the first time we met her or the most memorable story. It was amazing -Through each of these small tales the shape of her life came into being. We all have different area of our lives- Old friends, new friends -people from work, school, church, hobbies-And of course Family!
It was almost a tribal moment -all the women of the clan giving Penny an account of herself -"this is who you are-this is how we see you" That this was necessary for her to have this collective story of herself in order to bring her whole self to her marriage.

have you read "The Red Tent"?
I think you'd like it.
no -Kim reccommended it to me last year -perhaps once exams are done and I can read for pleasure fo a few short weeks
i was at a going away party a year or so ago for a friend, and that same tradition was played out....everyone's favorite memory of the person leaving. it overwhelmed her with love, and has totally stayed with me too. such a beautiful opportunity to really make words count.
matthew says that to love is to remember. and so if i need a little boost, he'll recount some silly story from when we were little kids. and it really works.
yep.
i recommended it on vic's recommendation sher, i actually haven't read it myself yet either.
i think i will eek out more reading time in my leisurely life.
elise read it, then even convinced isaiah to read it.
his reaction was so sweet.
he worried that he wasn't honoring her enough as a wife and a mother.
(i think if it worries you, you have nothing to worry about, does that make sense?)
